Tin Pan Alley became a new publishing district for popular music in the late 1800’s in New York. It was given the name due to all of the noise made by musicians writing new songs. When you walked through Tin Pan Alley all of the windows of the publishing companies were open, and the sound of so many different pianos clashing made it sound like tin pans hitting each other, (Crawford 174).
Spreading music in the Community
My goal is to reach out in the community and spread music in a manner that is affordable and not overwhelming. This website was created for Project Contemporary Tin Pan Alley: Providing resources for a new generation of musicians.
